7 Things About Us!

We got this award from a couple of  fellow CB's out there;  It's been great fun reading everyone's 'seven things' about themselves.  I thought it would be cool since there are four of us cats & two servants to list a picture each day with 7 things about that Cat (or servant.)

While Ms. O'Houligan couldn't be reached for comment , I have been assured by her PR staff we have permssion for me to use  little known  or unnown facts about her for this project provided she has full disclousre first. Therefore hers will be last since the attorneys involved in this discovery process may drag this out a bit.  BUT; over the next 6 days you can see photos and read up on our house.

I am going to start from last feline acquired and move forward to Ms. O'Houligan; The Queen Stella herself.  (of course Ms. Stella said ... "as it should be: save the best for last).  Thanks for stoppin for a visit!  Hope you enjoy it. Without further fuss may I present

Lady Jenga:
Miss Jenta is an 9 year old spayed female.  She came to my house (Bengal rescue) after Mr. Aspen found his forever home June 2009.  She has yet to be placed.  She is a cancer survivor.  While in my care she developed a growth on one of her hind toes which had to be removed.  After so many trips back and forth to the vet for bandage changes (and a change of Vet) somewhere in there we bonded & I told her that if she never found a forever home; she would always have one here with me.  Since the surgery was costly and rescue wanted to opt for the less costly option of euthanasia;  I arranged my own online art auction and sent out the S.O.S. to help fund it.  You can read about that here  .  It was hugely successful and from the letters and notes I got everyone was thrilled to help and very pleased with their pieces of art.   While in my home she is confined to the master bedroom owing to her aggressive dominant nature.  Something Ms. Stella and I are not quite happy with  but as of now it's the only solution we have so we all must bend a bit.

From Miss Jenga:
1. I don’t like any human food
2. I don’t like any wet stinky cat food
3. I LOVE the brush and come running and meowing from nowhere when I hear Her scratch her finger on the bristles!  I try to ‘eat’ the brush  when She brushes me
4. I dig under the quilts on the bed to sleep under the covers next to the warmy blanket

5. I sing to the moon sometimes at night until she say’s “Jenga NO!” to which I say “Jenga YES!”
6. I don’t like anyone NEAR my feet with anything other than their lips to kiss my paws!
7. I can stare down ALL the other kitties until they cower & leave the room (except Miss Jack who is always asleep and wouldn’t know the difference)

Hiya Kitties! Happy Sunday!

I just finished these two CatNip quilts.  This one is for Miss Abby

This one is for a dear friend of Miss Admiral's.  She doesn't have a blog yet but hopefully we'll get pictures of her lovely Distinguished Gentleman  Mr. T.  She asked for material that had cardinals or finches on it on a beige or tan background.  I found this charming Debbie Mumm fabric with all kinds of birds on it.

The photo doesn't reflect the warmth of the true colors tho.  The border is a lovely shade of greens.

I really enjoy quilting these little quilts.  It gives me practice and this pattern (Random Baptist Fan) is
hard; but it's one of my favorites.

There's a very sweet boy who just celebrated his first birthday.  He's very special to me, being able to see him as a baby kitteh with his mama at Miss Teri's ; then onto his furever home with Mr. Pierro.  Watching him grow from a gangly boycat into a more thoughtful (but still gangly) mancat has been wonderful.  I wanted to make something really special for him so I made a CatNip quilt for him that matches the one I made for our beloved Mr. Disco who lives with Miss Teri.

Here's a picture of Disco enjoying his.  It's flannel and soft and warm! It's even got a row of pillow fringe that's really thick.  Miss Teri said all her furrydance kitties love that part in particular as they can rub on it and nestle their noses in the plush threads.

Oh noes! An interloper! hee

Here is Ms. Stella road testing the one for Miles.

I will spend today quilting it and putting his name on it.  And THAT my dear kitties makes this one CATNIP QUILT NUMBER  98!!!

I started making these in 2009.  I was joking that every time I was working on a quilt a cat would eventually find it and lay on it.  Then I thought It'd be great to make them their very own mini quilts.  One step further was to add the CatNip between the layers and the CatNip Quilt was born! *at least my version anyhow*   I don't market them and I don't sell them when I go to gallery shows or craft faires.  They are sold strictly by word of mouth.   I am always humbled when I see photos of the kitties enjoying them on the web; or seeing videos of them enjoying their very own special blankets.  It makes me happy.  I make them because I love cats & I love to quilt.  I'm looking forward to seeing who will be the lucky owner of #100!  I will also have something extra special for that kitteh & their person for being the 100th buyer.  How FUN!

Caturday Naps

'That Woman' here.  While I'm working on getting my commissions done I noticed these two kitties being extra adorable in their favorite nap spots.

First one side gets warm...

Ms. Stella is looking particularly fine in her repose.  In this shot you can see bits of everything I'm working on... Baby quilt is on the bottom; she's lying on my next art quilt thats' rolled up so no furrs can be on it; and there's the CatNip quilt fabrics in the corner.  I know why it's so hard to get things worked on now.

Then the other

And then my desert queen Ms. Jenga in her tower enjoying the lovely sun on all over her back.  Ahhhhhhhh

I can't believe she can roll up her giant long body this small!

*MIA*  Miss Jack is sleeping in her cave (where no pictures are allowed)  Miss Scraps is on Ms. Stella's Woobie & since I don't want her to get herself a butt whoopin' I'm not posting evidence.

Hope everyone is finding their favorite nap spot today in spite of whatever weather you're having.

xoxo

Their mom requested turquoise green and cream shades.  I found this fabric & bought extra it is sooooo pretty I think with the pussy willows!

Shelter Awareness Day

ShelterAware24-200
BlogtheChangePlain

Shelter: something beneath, behind, or within which a person, animal,or thing is protected from storms, adverse conditions, etc.; refuge.
Sounds pretty simple doesn’t it?  But most of us know that it really is quite complex, not to mention expensive.  My friend Kika thought it would be a good idea for all of us to call attention to the many, many needs that shelters have.  Those of us in the United States and the United Kingdom know how brutal the winter and been already.  Many of our friends in Australia are experiencing devastating floods.  Our pals in Brazil have had horrible landslides.  The need is great.
We all know that many economies are bad and huge cash donations are not always possible.  But remember, animal shelters need all kind of things and every little bit can really help make a difference.  Here is a quick list of items that come to mind:
  • Canned and dry puppy and kitten food and milk replacer for puppies and kittens
  • Flea control meds
  • Paper products such as paper towels and toilet tissue
  • Cat litter and scoops
  • Puppy pads
  • Copy paper
  • Bandages (all sizes)
  • Free standing storage cabinets
  • Cleaning supplies (bleach, laundry detergent, fantastik, window cleaner)
  • Blankets, sheets and towels
  • Many miscellaneous items that can be sold to raise money
Listen, when you run an animal shelter, the little things mean a lot.  Don’t forget, you can donate an hour or two of your time on a regular basis too.  The easiest thing to do is ask you local shelter what they need.  Then see if you can help, just remember, you don’t have to do the whole thing, but you can spread the word and perhaps help a little.
Thanks to all of those participating in ShelterAware24.  We hope to make this an annual event on January 24th.  Hopefully shelter awareness will be with us 24 hours a day.

P. S. From The Riley

Duly Noted Mr. Riley.
I'm CERTAIN you wouldn't be so crass as to eat anykittys toys if you were a guest in their house!
Such a well mannered hound as yourself stands paws & shoulders above the rest!!

from: The Dog

I love that I get 'Congratulations' notes from The Dog who lives in Texas
Look how carefully he sealed the envelope
(I figure dogs are good at sealing things with all that drool they got)

And of course the card itself.  I keep all these cards and envelopes  in a special place.  This one will go at the top!
And yes 'Kimberly's Kittens' I'm sure it's goats milk cos all us cat lubbers know that cow milk is a no-no!To my CatBlogosphere friends; her blog is bar-none (no pun intended) one of the best out there for kitten care as well as enough adorable photos that will make you just explode from cuteness.

Sneaky Peek

YAY! Ms. Admiral received her Catnip Quilt & birdz & by the looks of things is quite happy with both!

I luff her flooffy tail!

I heard the birdz got way bunnie kicked! xoxo

We received another order for two quilts and two birdz from Lucious Lucy! & Her Sam.  (Sam is Lucy's Boi Toy)  After I got fabric to match their moms decor; Ms. Stella cracked her tail at me to get busy!  She takes her work so seriously these days!  Here she is snoopervising while I sew

One is complete; the other I will finish tonight along with two Catnip birdz.  Here is a sneak peek at the finished one while Ms. Stella is 'road testing' it for me them.
I love this picture of her!  (left side)
(right side) so far so good....

awwwwwww

She works so hard I let her nap; her fave place is on the ironing board

I do refer to her as 'Mrs. Big Head' not because she's particularly vain (well, other than what goes along with being a cat) but because her head is so much larger than her body! It's truly all furz though.  When I pet her and lay it all down with my hand it's pretty funny.  I'm not allowed to show that picture though. :)
