Sneaky Peek

YAY! Ms. Admiral received her Catnip Quilt & birdz & by the looks of things is quite happy with both!

I luff her flooffy tail!

I heard the birdz got way bunnie kicked! xoxo

We received another order for two quilts and two birdz from Lucious Lucy! & Her Sam.  (Sam is Lucy's Boi Toy)  After I got fabric to match their moms decor; Ms. Stella cracked her tail at me to get busy!  She takes her work so seriously these days!  Here she is snoopervising while I sew

One is complete; the other I will finish tonight along with two Catnip birdz.  Here is a sneak peek at the finished one while Ms. Stella is 'road testing' it for me them.
I love this picture of her!  (left side)
(right side) so far so good....

awwwwwww

She works so hard I let her nap; her fave place is on the ironing board

I do refer to her as 'Mrs. Big Head' not because she's particularly vain (well, other than what goes along with being a cat) but because her head is so much larger than her body! It's truly all furz though.  When I pet her and lay it all down with my hand it's pretty funny.  I'm not allowed to show that picture though. :)

Caught...in the act

ooooohhhhhh...... she's gonna be in trubbbllezz!

i can't watch!

The next photo was to be of Ms. Stella getting her manicure at the exclusive 'ClubF' ; however peeppurazzi aren't allowed inside this establishment for privacy reasons.

When informed of the charges against Ms. Stella; her entourage only had this to say:

"Ms. Stella O'Houligan (the accused) denies any wrong doing.  Investigations are on going in light of the so called photographic evidence.  She further stated that all the photo shows is herself steadfastly holding onto the household furniture during an earthquake...to keep it from falling over... on the other cats in the area"

No further corroborations have been made as no other household felines could be reached for comment.

Why yes...

Correction from the IDIOT who posted this for Ms. Stella O'Houligan

Which just goes to proove you can't get good help!
Ms. Stella Deeply regrets that she left off the ONLY cat who truly has her heart locked up forever-more; the moron woman stupid cow has been diciplined and has made the appropriate correction below:

This is my green fuzzy ball that I simply adore & fling around the rooms with great abandon!  Some day when hell freezes over,  I might even let you catch me in the act on video.  But since you are so lame unable to figure out how to load videos I guess I'm safe.  In the meantime; do you think you could post this lovely, stunning photo of me for Mr. DiscoNoFurNo;  Mr. Sam; Mr. Puddy; Mr. Spitty and all my other favorite Manly Mancats out there?  Theres a good girl. Now run along to w-o-r-k (whatever that is); I need my beauty rest.

Catnip Quilts Mailed!

Hello everyone!  'That Woman'  here letting you know I'll be mailing out the Catnip quilts today along with the Catnip birdz.  There are three quilts and some birdz travelling all the way to ROME!  I'm happy all these are done & truly hope the recipients like their new quilts & toyz.

So; without further ado;

When I think of the lovely Grand Dame, Ms. Admiral Hestorb; I envision her reclining delicately in a field of butterflies made out of wildflowers.  I hope this suits her.

*****************************

These next three are traveling to Rome, Italy.  They are personalized for my friend Nathalie's kitties.  You can read her blog here (it's totally awesome by the way).  I remember reading her blog and seeing the names of Microbo & Microbetta two of her cats and I thought at the time (and still do) that those are the coolest names I'd ever heard for cats                and then....

found out she had a kitty named Chaos.  How cool is THAT?

I do hate to admit here that after I had quilted it and put the name on; I looked at her note to me.  She spells it Caos.  no H. Since I messed it up I'm not charging her for this one and I truly hope Caos doesn't mind.  Especially since I put little cat claws on the H :)

This is also a lovely name.

********************************************

NOW: onto the birdz!

birdz bellies...how cute!

Exclusive Behind the scenes Footage!
*blu ray player not necessary*

Naturally;  like any good story; there's always stuff going on the background that adds flavor.
I tell people that my Catnip Quilts are 'quality tested by a relentless quality control expert!'  And they are! Her name is Ms. Stella O'Houligan.  She takes her job seriously and she knows when I'm in makin' these.  Since cats aren't allowed in the sewing room; the door stays closed when I'm working.  Ms. Stella will yowl at the door for me to let her in so she can do her job.  She does make it sound as if she's doing me a favor but since she's a Cat; that's her prerogative.

Here are some shots of her hard at work!  This quilt is going to her very special friend; someone she visits daily; sends personal emails to and 'holds her paw' whenever the 'v-e-t' word is mentioned.  Ms. Admiral has been undergoing some horrific experiences and since both 'gals' are considered 'Senior Cats'; just like humans; the tests are often humiliating and often painful. Both myself & Admiral's Mistress have been co-miserating for our beloveds.

Ms. Stella had her work cut out (MOL! no pun intended) for her.  She needed to make sure Ms. Admiral's quilt was absolutely perfect.  Here she is putting it through stringent and rigorous testing.

Examining the stitches; she's worse than the 'Quilt Police' at a show!

testing for comfort is a MUST

(note the claws out as I moved closer to retrieve the quilt. I don't mess with those!)

She also tested the quilts going to Rome.  I distinctly heard her singing something like 'From America, With Love' These were on the back of a chair; I was sewing along and realized she'd moved them to the floor where she could give them a good once over.  I swear you'd think SHE was the seamstress! (well, she does have the necessary equipment for seam ripping!- oh, excuse me "un-sewing")

All that hard work makes the old gal tired; here she is taking her well deserved 15 minute break

you can see a glimpse of her using the time honored method of 'vigorously rubbing' to ensure durability.

BLOOPER SHOT
measuring schmesuring! *note the tiny red rick-rack* in my effort to use up scraps; oops!  I did fix it.
Who says rick rack is kitchy?  This stuff is embroidered!  Now I even see this same type on ultra expenive jeans!

Technical Stuff:  I don't use computer aided embroidery.  Everything is free-motion stitched by my own hand guiding the needle.  You can see my latex gloves in the above photo on the left side; I use those when I do free motion quilting to get a better grip on the fabric and no slippage what-so-ever! They also are great for petting your cats to get off loose fur!  Since the Catnip I use is fresh, there tend to be stems and other parts of the plant than just the leaves; I used to use Metallica Needles until a friend suggested Titanium coated Top Stitch Needles from Superior Threads. I use them for nearly all my quilting now.  Worth. every. penny.  (and not too many more pennies than Metallic Needles)

You can see in this photo where I've used the white quilters pencil to write (again by hand) the lettering.  I simply stitch over that several times to get the desired thickness of the letters.  (i.e. For Microbo; since he is a Mancat; I made his thicker and more robust.  Microbetta's I only went over 3 times to give a softer look.)

That's it for now!  I'm off to work on three new art quilts that are due in March.  And since I have little or no idea what I'm actually designing just yet; I'd better get busy.

Love and Nip to you all!

Letter from Mr. Larry!!!

I'm so happy Mr. Larry took Ms. Stella's advice & got his human off to the right start by layin down the paw & having her scribe his letter to us. heehee!   He also got her to send a couple pictures!

Before I post his letter I'll give you some background.  His new owner is a student in animal phychology & behavior at San Luis Obispo College; she is working her way thru college at  Petsmart! (sweeeeet!)   She shares her apt.  with an 2 yr old Wheaton Terrier named Harly. She saw Larry on the Bengal Rescue and decided that the 8 hour round trip drive to get him would be worth it.  I'm so very glad she did.  Mr. Larry is an exceedingly smart and energetic cat who needs lots of one on one attention & stimulation.  I have no doubts that she is the perfect match for him.  Since Harly loves cats apparently; I feel certain that given time & the right introductions; they should get along just fine.

I was so pleased to meet her in person.  She was able to spend an hour or so with Mr. Larry getting to know him while I buzzed around getting all this things ready and chatted about all the things he does, likes and doesn't like.

Here is a note from his new person first: It includes the pictures she sent:

Dear Stacy:
Well Mr. Larry is doing well. The first night of staying with me, I let him roam the apartment at night while I was sleeping... BIG mistake. He kept walking past Harly's crate and when Harly would move; Larry would just freeze solid.  When Harly laid back down, Larry would continue walking back and forth. That wasn't the mistake. All night Larry was roaming around the apartment which kept Harly up all night because I didn't introduce them yet. So basically I got 2 hours of sleep that night.

Larry is doing GREAT with me. He let's me pet him, pick him up whenever and I even got to brush him this morning. I think his apprehension for Harly is bringing us closer :-) I know it will take time for them 2 to like each other but it's amazing how close he is with me already. When I went to work today (Harly comes with me all day) he had the roam of the apartment. I think he likes it because he had it all to himself and I opened the blinds for him to sit at the window perch.

When I got home from work, I searched the whole place and couldn't find Larry!! I was worried that he escaped out the window (even though the window was shut and I have screens on them). After searching for a good 10 minutes I went to change out of my work clothes and there I found Larry, sitting in my clothes drawer all bundled up. How he got in there... I have no clue!

So what I did was cleared a little space for him so he can be "safe" in the drawer now. I was petting Larry and decided to maybe show him Harly. Well the whole time Larry was "chatting" away and poked his head under my arm pit, so he didn't have to look at Harly. That lasted about 10 seconds and then Larry wasn't having it... So this evening, Larry will be sleeping in the bathroom. I set his bed and litter box in there and some of his straws. After eating dinner, I went in there to spend some time with him and this is what I found!

He likes laying in the sink. Lol.

I'll keep you posted on how he is doing with Harly but I think overall for being with me for one day, he is doing fantastic!! He is going to fit right in with my "family" :-)

A note from Larry

Miss Stacy,

That was the longest car ride ever! About half way I was getting grumpy and didn't want my picture taken nor being pet by that young girl. When we got to my new home, there were so many trees and birds that I couldn't focus on just one. The young girl kept me in the bathroom but I didn't want to leave my carrier. I just sat there and was talking to her the whole time. I don't think she understood me but I kept chatting anyways.

When the girl left and came back with that dog she calls Harly, I didn't know what To think. I didn't see him, but I could hear him breathing under the bathroom door and his collar jingling away. That startled me and I ran and hid next to the toilet. When the girl and her dog went to bed, she was nice enough to leave the door open for me. I was walking very quietly so I didn't wake the dog. After roaming my new home, I found the windows!! And what's really great, is that next to the windows is a big glass house that has frogs in it!! I sat there and starred at them for awhile. My goal is to catch one when the girl goes to work!

The girl made me look at her dog...I didn't like him. He is definitely bigger than all of your kitties (my old roomies). The dog just sits there and stares at me as if I was his best friend. HA! Like that will ever happen. I do like that I have my "own" place. When the girl and her dog leave, I get to explore and not have to worry about anyone bothering me.

I think I'm going to like it here. The girl got me some treats and I didn't eat them in front of her But I waited until she left. They were my favorite, SALMON! (thanks for giving her the heads up). I haven't had any accidents yet and she placed my box in the middle of the room so i felt safe. I think the little things is what is making me Happy.

Miss Stacy, thank you again for keeping me for the past 6 months! I had a blast there, and I will miss sitting in your basket watching you make your quilts. You have definitely helped me in the road to being "normal" and I couldn't thank you anymore. I'll keep you posted on "life with the girl and her dog!"

Well, after I read that you can bet my eyes were shining and there was some peace in my heart.  I know Mr. L found a great person to hang with.  I told her I loved her last line & suggested (even though she's probably very busy) should do a blog by Larry called 'Life with the girl & her dog" it sounded sooo cute! She wrote me back a bit ago and said she might!  So I'll keep ya posted & link it up.

Some mews

Well; I must say that watching Mr Larry drive off with his new person wasn't nearly as horrible as I thought it would be.  I took lots of video of him before he left but I can't get it to load either via you tube or just direct to blogger.  It has been very frustrating and time consuming only to find out it didn't work.  So I gave up.  If anyone has hints on ways to load video where it actually doesn't take several hours to load please let me know.  The videos are only one minute long each so I can't imagine why it's being so stupid!

The rest of the house cats have certainly reverted back to their 'pre male cat in our house' catitudes and for that I am most grateful.

Since I was going to be off on Friday (getting Larry situated) I decided to take a whole week of vacation.  I have much yardwork; sewing commissions & general after the holiday cleanings to attend.  After Larry drove off I went straight to the backyard with the electric hedge trimmer.  Everything was going along wonderfully until I got to the fortnight lilys.  Then as I stooped to start 'hedging' them I felt my back go.

I won't even bother telling you why the sky over my house must have been literally black with all the words that came out of my mouth then.   I decided that since the gods decided to be evil to me I wouldn't give them the satisfaction and I immediately took steps to minimize the injury to my back by lying down right away with ice.  And vicodin.  And ibuprophen.  Yesterday I spent the entire day laying on the couch in and out of sleep watching the extended version of the Lord of The Rings entire collection.  Today I was able to walk around and take a shower.  I WILL be in my sewing room today come hell or high water.  Even if I do resemble a pretzel.

So; sitting at the computer is not what I should be doing but I wanted y'all to know what was going on.  I simply will NOT let this ruin the first vacation I've had IN A YEAR thank you very much!

I will get to visit blogs periodically and there will be no incriminating photos of me lying on the couch with all three of my cats on top (well, ok; Ms. Stella was lying next to me but not ON me) of me keeping me down to rest.

xoxo

Caption contest! WINNERS!

ConCATulations!

Ok; so there was more than one but things should always go in threes; it's a rule.

They were all funny!

1.)  From MISSY TERI!
...I go to parties, sometimes until four. It's hard to leave when you can't find the door...
seriously; I've been singing this song ever since!

2.) From Dabbler
The Luggage had appeared atop a pile of boxes, two of it's many legs waving merrily, it's tail drooping. Wait... Rincewind thought, "where did it get that tail?"
because many of us are huge Terry Pratchett fans!

3.) From Katnip Lounge

Body?  What Body?
I love this one because I'm just not sure who's saying it and that kinda creeps me out but makes me laugh too!

So if all of you would please be so kind as to send me via email your snail mail addy's I will be happy to send you a lovely CatNip Bird of your very own.
my email is
stacyhurt at rocketmail dot com

I took this photo and I LOVE it; but for the life of me I can't caption it!  So if you write a caption and it makes me fall of my stool laughing; you win and I'll send you this prize!

I had gotten this adorable bird pattern two years ago from Spool

Then, someone had reposted it on the CBlogosphere as a cat toy and it reminded me! The two fancy birds I had made  were found by Mr. Larry and became his favorite bitey toys and they didn't even have nip in 'em!  So then, light bulb moment... I thought; wouldn't it be fun; stuff them with stuffing AND nip .  So I've made a few for my own girls & they hang on our tree till Christmas (way up high at the top and outta reach!)

I've brought this one down so y'all can see Miss Jack and get an idea how big they are:

So if you want to win one write me your funniest caption and I'll choose by January 1st and then post the winning caption!  :)   This one's out of Christmas fabrics but I also make them in regular.

this one was requested by The Gurl for her room; it's lime green polka dots under and over is green; pinks, yellows & fuchsia plaid.

This one is NOT a cat toy owing to the fancy headdress!

IN other news I'm also making this offer:

As you all ready know; you can bid on one of my CatNip Quilts at the auction going on over here   and I will toss in a bird toy for the winning bidder too!  As bidding closes at midnight tonight I think it's OK for me let slip that I had donated TWO quilts for the auction so look for the other one coming up next week along with the quilted cat note card you see in the post below. :)  Good Luck and happy bidding!
