Ollie is resting comfortably

Ollie is home and in my lap.  His face is very swollen still and he has rather violent sneezes.  He has partial vision in one eye.  Vets said the swelling should be subsiding over the next 4 to 6 weeks.  Once it's gone we can see how much brain damage there is.  Right now he's a bit wonky on one side when he walks.  But he's walkin
and earlier talked to me a bit

The one thing he's NOT doing is eating.  We have 24 hours to get him to eat something.  I have thus far tried everything I currently have including treats, food, and kibble.
I need to go shopping tomorrow to get other things like cans of real tuna; baby food; even el junkfood friskies or whatever as long as he gets something.
One step at a time I guess.

For now he is resting in peace and quiet.  I can only hope that his head is being quiet and he's not suffering too much.
Time for his pain meds.
More later.

  1. I'm sending LOTS of purrs Ollie's way! One thing you might try is KFC or some other fried or roasted chicken. TNR humans actually use KFC to trap ferals because they find it so irresistible. Maybe Ollie will too. If he is sneezing, I would wager that he can't smell well, which has a big impact on his desire to eat, so the stronger the aroma of whatever you offer him, the better.

  5. From experience I can say pain meds will blunt appetite substantially and Ollie might need an appetite stimulant. Poor boy--he doesn't look as bad as I expected--but he certainly doesn't look like a happy camper! I have a TON of stuff ready to auction, just say the word. {{hugs}} xx Trish and the gang

  6. Poor little boy! To add to Sparkle's comment, smell is very important, so maybe warming the food a bit to get it nice and stinky might help. We're all purring for him.

  10. We're purring that Ollie starts to eat. Baby food usually works.

  11. We're purring for Ollie to heal from this trauma. Painkillers probably aren't helping his appetite. They don't for humans, either. You're probably right that soft things he doesn't have to chew are a best bet. That was recommended to us after Ashton's kitten head trauma until the swelling went down.

  12. Bonjour Stacy! Just read about your little guy. Our Leo had some serious surgery to remove some large tumours form his back a month ago and wouldn't eat. I gave him Hill's Science a/d and he did eat that. I did stop the pain meds as well since they are known to cause disinterest in food. Hope Ollie feels better with each passing day. I bet he is happy to be home!
