Thoughtful Thursday

Just look at this face!

ya'll know that the Houligan is my Queen but she is not real user friendly.

These two cats are as opposite as they can be and still be in the same felidae family.
I adore them both more than I can articulate.

This photo is of Miss Jenga and it is of her I wish to share something with you today.

I sleep in Miss Jenga's room. (well, it's my bedroom but really it's hers) As soon as I get into bed, I swoosh the down comforter off to one side, Miss J comes down off her tower, across the nightstand and onto the bed. She lies right next to me in the space I have just made for her. I am permitted a pet or two but any more and her tail starts showing over stimulation. Even though she's purring to beat the band.

At some point after we sleep a bit, I turn over, and in the dark, with my eyes closed, I can feel her walk across the bed to the other side so she is again in front of me.

Then comes my most cherished part: my arm under the pillow and hand resting out of the covers. She takes her face and puts it right up to my fingers but doesn't make contact, I can only feel her breath. (rarely, whiskers & a nose tap ) Her breath, as she purrs comes in soft bursts on my hand and I am enchanted. The breath of life indeed. It is a moment I linger on.

Oh what mysteries these beings are! They come to inhabit our lives, even as we push them into the corners of our routine. Yet they offer in the tiniest of moments, the largest amounts of affection, solace and seeming understanding. Just because we don't speak their language by no means mean they don't understand ours.

xoxo
That Woman

I'm on the mend from my cold. Thank you to all who have sent well wishes. It's so lovely to be thought of.

  4. Such a beautiful post about Miss Jenga.

The mom's heart always overflows when we come to cuddle, each of us in our own way. :-)

We're glad you're feeling better...But we think our mom has your cold. LOL.

  5. Dear Missie Jengaflower, you look very peaceful taking a nap there
it is great that you keep your mom so happy. Moms need us to love them every day or they get all mopey and sad.

  8. What a lovely post! Cats are amazing, aren't they? I love falling asleep with a cat on either side. Scarlett's a snuggler, but Melly just likes to be nearby.

  11. Mommy and I read this with a lot of warm smiles and happy hearts because I cherish my mommy like that and she, me. People who don't get this demonstration of love from their babies are missing a heart stopping sweetest moment. Mommy loves it when, after she comes back from a trip I fall asleep with my head in the palm of her hand and holding her wrist with my hands. She said that's Nirvana.
