Midnight in the kitchen

When the kitten tots are in their beds; and Miss Jack & Ollie have turned in with me; Miss Scraps is locked in her room (for her own protection)

as I lie awake thinking of everything I apparently couldn't bother to think about while awake the last 14 hours drift off to sleep I hear it

a gloinggg, gloinng, gloinggloinggloing....

feetfeetfeetfeet, sllliiiiide, gloingggg, gloinnggloinggloing.....

And then as I peer over the edge of the bed (moving Ollie's head out of the way) I see it!

It's so fast I only get a swish  view as it flies from the doorframe from right to left!

Then left to right!   Then back again!

gloingg, gloinggg,  feetfeetfeetfeet, sliiiiiiiide

*sigh*

The Ol' Bat's at it again.  She's found the ping pong ball the kitten tots left under the table and now it's racing across the lino kitchen floor, the diningroom floor around the table legs (all 24 of them) and back to the kitchen where it becomes trapped and then released.

Ollie is no dummy; when Ms Stella is playing like that it's best to stay out of her way.

Cod luff her

Oops!

It's a good thing That Woman isn't the vet!

Methemezole is what I'M taking for my thyroid.

The OzMan was given something else.

Sheesh!

That is all.

Except this gratuitous photo of Moi

Ollie lollie

Soooo... Mr. Dementornj...(ya, give you a minute to say that in your head)
Has limited vision in one eye and practically NO vision in the other.
You would think that any normal animal would then compensate
by say:  not trying to jump on things when they have virtually NO depth perception wouldn't you?
Well, you'd be wrong

Lookit my big Ornj Sun!  I lovez him soo much

Well for a few days he was lying in his hammock.  He only lays in there when something is wrong so I gave him three days and the carted him off to the vet.

Dr. Horn's first question to me (while he was perusing Ollie's chart) was 'have you gotten insurance on him yet?'  And I was startled a bit thinking 'how did he know I was getting quotes, man he IS good!"  So I asked?  How did you know?  He said
"Oh I didn't but given is rap sheet is already longer in three years than most cats their whole lives I guessed you proabaly should think about it."

I laughed so loud Ollie startled!

So after watching Ollie gimp around the room he was wisked off for exrays.  No foreign objects (you know like the time he tried to eat wasps...twice.  No broken bones (like the last time I had xrays and $500 worth of blood work to find he was perfectly fine) and nothing untoward to tell Dr. that anything was wrong.  Except that clearly something was.

Ollie was sent home with Methemizole for three days (over Labor Day weekend) and three days after  that he finally got 'out of hammock(bed) and got up on my bed in his ususal spot.

All the while yelling at me that he really DID want to go out with Stella and how HORRIBLE I am since he's been couped up for two weeks!

NOT
A
CHANCE
Mister!

(I love this photo, the foreshortening makes him look so kittenish. You'd never guess he was 12lbs with a 14" tailio!

I can't trust you IN the house let alone OUTSIDE even where I can SEE you!

I have gotten rid of one 6ft cat tree and when the kittens are finally gone I will get rid of the second one.  I know he loves to play chase with me and we play hide and seek even, but we'll just have to tone it down I guess.

As of today he's doing much better.

xoxo
Happy Caturday (soon!)

In Memoriam

If you haven't already done so, please stop by Sparkle's blog, for her memorial and her commentathon for Tabby's Place.

Her life was dedicated to helping Cats, for their Highest Good, and her work continues now, even in memory.

We are still in sadness over her loss.

Comments are off.

The Passing of a Titan

Afternoon, August 20, 2014
We would like to say goodbye to one of the Cat Blogosphere's best and brightest.
From our first day blogging to today, all these 9 years later; Sparkle The Designer Cat was a permanent fixture in our world.
She always managed to get her comments in first, always had interesting things to say and never ever  got snarky, (well, except where Binga was concerned).
She is gone now; we just read the news on Facebook.
Kissed by a Sunbeam
Janiss Garza is quite something.  When I first saw her at Blog Paws I instantly thought; no way!  She was warm, open and gregarious and she looked nothing like I had pictured her.(even with facebook profile shots).  I really enjoyed meeting her, chatting and hearing about the levels of professionalism that she wanted her blog to be in and remain, after all, Sparkle had important things cat owners should know, in addition to cute photos and product reviews.  She strove to be more, and she was.

When I read that she 'didn't come home' today I wept (as I'm sure a lot of you did too).  I admired how she stated plainly that they don't believe in the rainbow bridge but she hoped she would continue on in our hearts.  My heart burst with pride for her bravery in writing that.

Special Cat Nip Quilts

Here is one special Cat Nip Quilt I made for Pia to give to her beloved Dexter on their anniversary.

I had fun creating this with the ideas that Pia had given me about what she really wanted to say to her lover boy.

you can see her face below on the left with hearts in her eyes

Dexter is on the right side

I created the red circle with the line in it to cross out all the other 'boys' and used a stenciled 'x' to keep interest. It was really fun making this.

Pia was very happy with her love note to her beloved.  He said he really loved it too.

Mr. Ollie and The Sock Bomb

So the other night I thought my big kids deserved some serious fun time. I found the KatNipLounge packages from BlogPaws (they had to be hidden since the smell would about knock over a self respecting human) and it wasn't moments before Ollie was crying and carrying on and following me around the house crying and... ALRIGHT! I will make you a sock bomb.  (it's circled in red below) Ollie was sorta trippin out lookin all dejected after I kinda snapped at him for goin after the wee ones.  I snuck it in under his butt.  (he likes being scratched there and gets all droolie and bitey in a cute way)

Next thing you know...

Lookit his little upside down love heart.  Ok, nevermind. I'm weird.  But I loves my son and he got some good lazer action and upside down toofs showin too.  I snorgled him to death, I did.  I don't mind tellin ya, he can drool and purr all over me anyday.

The kittens loved them too but HOLY COD are they fast!  In no time flat they each had a sock bomb and were flying around the living room like maniacs!

So adorable.

It's An Outrage!

So you think you know someone...

and then, three little mongrels kittens come live us for while (she says)  and so today she's preparing for work, la de-frickin-da... WHEN
The scene begins:

**strange noises coming from the front hall area near the open front door
(oh fer cryin out loud you bunch of ...audience members;keep yer furs on!  the screen is closed!)

Anyhow, as I was sayin'.
Strange noises.
Woman comes running.

Now any self respecting (so called) cat-mom would have had the camera phone on video in a blink!
And therefore could have thrust onto the world stage the sight of a small, grey plush kitten
going backwards all around the place banging into everything and causing much hissing from grown up cats who had come to inspect the strange noises because

said kitten

had her head

neatly stuck

inside

the empty tall tissue box

All I'm sayin'...
ALL I'M SAYIN
is that you KNOW if it had been the Ornj GOON or Cod forbid ME-- That little video woulda made the nightly news and we'd be sittin pretty for next years Pettie awards (PAWS DOWN) for that bit of film brilliance.

But no, sadly not.
And the offrontery continued when to drown out the appaws and laughter and adulation of all my fans I could still hear ringing in my lovely head... all I heard was

:OMG!  Kitten,, OHHH noooonononnono!  OH poor baby!  Omygoodness!  Oh you poor widdow fing...oh...."

OH  B  L A R F!

Yes!
it's an absolute outrage and scandal!
I have nothing further to say on the matter.
Feel my pain fellow inmates; we could'a been STARZ!!!

Sweet G:  "srsly?   Can you say 'Drama Queen?'

Ms. Stella "I heard THAT!"

I gotcher tail!

Sunday Catinee's (links fixed)

Some kitten's had a bit too much nip!

And these kittens are enjoying the sun and we are even rewarded with a wee pink tongue near the end.

Quickie note:

So; my phone sorta had a crash.  Verizon sent me a new one gratis since it wasn't my fault.  I did back up all my photos, etc. and they are all there which is way awesome. It's gotten me behind in posting though.   All this by way of saying that between caring for my four cats; getting Ms. "if you stick that thing near my mouth again be prepared to lose several fingers" to take her meds twice daily; caring for the three kittens(all of whom are doing fine & purring right along) ; and then running over every couple days to care for the kittens at Petco, in Orange on Katella *hint, hint* .  Well, you get the idea.
This little mama was recently adopted!  Isn't she gorgeous! Makes the effort totally worth while!

I got a last minute, hurry hurry, very special CatNip quilt order (that I won't spoil the surprise of yet) done this last weekend as well as picking up three more commissions for BIG quilts.  Two are the T-shirt kind of memory quilt and one will be a table runner quilt made from the woman's deceased father's liturgical shawl's (that are all silk).

I would like to say that if you have a special occasion with your kitties; or would like Christmas themed CatNip quilts you should get your order requests in to me.  I've done quilts for kitteh's birthdays, gotcha' days and even anniversaries.  So do know those types are available (if a little bit more expensive owing to the specialty fabrics and other elements that can be added such as photos and such).

This next couple weeks will be spotty as I'm getting ready for a lecture/workshop coming up as well as covering extra hours at my day job so my boss can enjoy her daughters destination wedding.

But fear not; my new phone works fine so sometimes there may just be cutie pie photos showing up.

Thanks and stay cool all those kitteh's like us who are nearing triple digit heat again.  Urg.  This is what I threaten Ms. Ironjaw with when she gets particularly hissy.  She opens her mouth just enough to say 'As If ' thought it comes out more of snigger---brat!

I know, doesn't it just tell a thousand words! (internet photo)

Luckily, I have been able to melt the pill in a tiny amount of water and then mix it with a teaspoon of her food; once she eats all that, I give her the rest of her meal.

Only way I can keep track to make sure she's getting her meds & not some other kitty.

The kittens eat in a separate room all together.
