Today's the DAY!!!

It's been a long journey this.
From May
I came home from Blog Paws so enthused and instantly signed up to be a foster mom
Six kittens materialized the very next day

Two were painfully lost and I learned so very much (trial by fire) and knew then that I wouldn't be able to do this ever again.  BUT I could do my very best with the ones I had left.

Winston, you were so very small but always full of love and trust

your sister Cosmo was more fearful...

It was love at first cuddle and we knew you were the most special of felines

So inquisitive, open and fearless
You were the leader of the pack

And still a mama's boy

such a giant world to such wee tiny beings

And this face...

 and this motorboat

still sometimes wary

and eventually full immersion to my 'mom lap'
And now with utter JOY I am happy to report that you both will be furrever together
on your way to your new furrever home.  I know they got you all new stuff, A climbing tree, new litter boxes, food dishes, new toys!  You will have so much fun ruling the roost with each other and your new pawrents.
***reaching for kleenex box now-damn***

I have no other words to give you
no other things to teach you
(Winston, please remember to stay out of plastic bags even though you love them)
(Cosmos- remember to stay open with your heart and give those tiny mews to your new mom who will melt instantly as I do every.single.time.)

And if ever you need to come back here; my door is always wide open to you.
I love you both so very much.

xoxo

Kitten update

So most of you read about our little drama with Winston being adopted one evening and then promptly returned the next morning due to anxiety separation which kept him yowling when left alone.

(Well of course he did poor baby!  Removed from his company of 5 other cats including his sister is bound to be a bit traumatic for any kitten no matter how old they are) I was concerned about this and let the couple know there could be issues but with patience and  a little time he would be the most awesome kitty they could have.

Sadly it was not to be.  They discovered they didn't want to spend the time to get through this stage and so 12 hours later he was returned to me. For that, I am grateful.

He is now at home (as you can see below) resting from his ordeal and tonight I have a prospective adopter looking to take both he and his sister.  Please keep your purrometers on and steady as I would really love for this to happen.

Love this shot of my Cosmos

My little mancub happy to be home
gray mancats are too adorablz.

We'll keep you posted.
It's been a very trying time.

Midnight in the kitchen

When the kitten tots are in their beds; and Miss Jack & Ollie have turned in with me; Miss Scraps is locked in her room (for her own protection)

as I lie awake thinking of everything I apparently couldn't bother to think about while awake the last 14 hours drift off to sleep I hear it

a gloinggg, gloinng, gloinggloinggloing....

feetfeetfeetfeet, sllliiiiide, gloingggg, gloinnggloinggloing.....

And then as I peer over the edge of the bed (moving Ollie's head out of the way) I see it!

It's so fast I only get a swish  view as it flies from the doorframe from right to left!

Then left to right!   Then back again!

gloingg, gloinggg,  feetfeetfeetfeet, sliiiiiiiide

*sigh*

The Ol' Bat's at it again.  She's found the ping pong ball the kitten tots left under the table and now it's racing across the lino kitchen floor, the diningroom floor around the table legs (all 24 of them) and back to the kitchen where it becomes trapped and then released.

Ollie is no dummy; when Ms Stella is playing like that it's best to stay out of her way.

Cod luff her

Oops!

It's a good thing That Woman isn't the vet!

Methemezole is what I'M taking for my thyroid.

The OzMan was given something else.

Sheesh!

That is all.

Except this gratuitous photo of Moi

Ollie lollie

Soooo... Mr. Dementornj...(ya, give you a minute to say that in your head)
Has limited vision in one eye and practically NO vision in the other.
You would think that any normal animal would then compensate
by say:  not trying to jump on things when they have virtually NO depth perception wouldn't you?
Well, you'd be wrong

Lookit my big Ornj Sun!  I lovez him soo much

Well for a few days he was lying in his hammock.  He only lays in there when something is wrong so I gave him three days and the carted him off to the vet.

Dr. Horn's first question to me (while he was perusing Ollie's chart) was 'have you gotten insurance on him yet?'  And I was startled a bit thinking 'how did he know I was getting quotes, man he IS good!"  So I asked?  How did you know?  He said
"Oh I didn't but given is rap sheet is already longer in three years than most cats their whole lives I guessed you proabaly should think about it."

I laughed so loud Ollie startled!

So after watching Ollie gimp around the room he was wisked off for exrays.  No foreign objects (you know like the time he tried to eat wasps...twice.  No broken bones (like the last time I had xrays and $500 worth of blood work to find he was perfectly fine) and nothing untoward to tell Dr. that anything was wrong.  Except that clearly something was.

Ollie was sent home with Methemizole for three days (over Labor Day weekend) and three days after  that he finally got 'out of hammock(bed) and got up on my bed in his ususal spot.

All the while yelling at me that he really DID want to go out with Stella and how HORRIBLE I am since he's been couped up for two weeks!

NOT
A
CHANCE
Mister!

(I love this photo, the foreshortening makes him look so kittenish. You'd never guess he was 12lbs with a 14" tailio!

I can't trust you IN the house let alone OUTSIDE even where I can SEE you!

I have gotten rid of one 6ft cat tree and when the kittens are finally gone I will get rid of the second one.  I know he loves to play chase with me and we play hide and seek even, but we'll just have to tone it down I guess.

As of today he's doing much better.

xoxo
Happy Caturday (soon!)

In Memoriam

If you haven't already done so, please stop by Sparkle's blog, for her memorial and her commentathon for Tabby's Place.

Her life was dedicated to helping Cats, for their Highest Good, and her work continues now, even in memory.

We are still in sadness over her loss.

Comments are off.

The Passing of a Titan

Afternoon, August 20, 2014
We would like to say goodbye to one of the Cat Blogosphere's best and brightest.
From our first day blogging to today, all these 9 years later; Sparkle The Designer Cat was a permanent fixture in our world.
She always managed to get her comments in first, always had interesting things to say and never ever  got snarky, (well, except where Binga was concerned).
She is gone now; we just read the news on Facebook.
Kissed by a Sunbeam
Janiss Garza is quite something.  When I first saw her at Blog Paws I instantly thought; no way!  She was warm, open and gregarious and she looked nothing like I had pictured her.(even with facebook profile shots).  I really enjoyed meeting her, chatting and hearing about the levels of professionalism that she wanted her blog to be in and remain, after all, Sparkle had important things cat owners should know, in addition to cute photos and product reviews.  She strove to be more, and she was.

When I read that she 'didn't come home' today I wept (as I'm sure a lot of you did too).  I admired how she stated plainly that they don't believe in the rainbow bridge but she hoped she would continue on in our hearts.  My heart burst with pride for her bravery in writing that.

Special Cat Nip Quilts

Here is one special Cat Nip Quilt I made for Pia to give to her beloved Dexter on their anniversary.

I had fun creating this with the ideas that Pia had given me about what she really wanted to say to her lover boy.

you can see her face below on the left with hearts in her eyes

Dexter is on the right side

I created the red circle with the line in it to cross out all the other 'boys' and used a stenciled 'x' to keep interest. It was really fun making this.

Pia was very happy with her love note to her beloved.  He said he really loved it too.

Sweet Baby G

Oh Darling Girl, good luck in your new forever home.
I will think of you always and wish I could have kissed you one last time goodbye.
