Shout Out for Purrs Please

Our Beloved Ms. Stella was rushed to the vet this morning after she was discovered limping badly. She had been indoors all night and when we got up she was sleeping on the cat tree (lower level).  She got down eventually and that is when I noticed she was limping badly and her paw was swollen really big.

The vet examined her first thing this morning and found that her foot bone was protruding through the bottom of her paw!!!  Her toe was nearly severed and only hanging on by some skin.  I nearly died!  The only thing we can figure is she got it caught somewhere.  Dr. Horn said he'd never seen anything like it.

She's a tough ol broad and will undergo surgery today to have the toe removed and the skin stitched up.  Since it's Saturday they will keep her this weekend and we will pick her up Monday morning.

Naturally I am nervous, due to her age knowing she will be out under anesthesia makes me very uncomfortable but the vet will do a prelim blood panel first to make sure it's safe.  She just had a full panel done last November and it was perfect.

I'm the Mom, it's my job to worry.
I will keep you all posted as news comes in.  Dr. Horn is excellent about emailing updates and we may even get a pic.  maybe.

xoxo

  4. Oh my goodness, this is very upsetting for you, I'm sure. What a bizarre thing to happen. I know cats always have their nose where it doesn't belong and are apt to get injured just being a cat but this does sound odd. I hope you can figure it out and poor Stella will be ok. Good thoughts going out for a quick recovery. Hugs
