This one took me by surprise! I had no idea there was a 'write in' campaign to name the first space shuttle after the Enterprise! HOW COOOOOL!

Originally slated to bear the name Constitution, the first space shuttle to be built was dubbed Enterprise following a write-in campaign from Star Trek fans. ReplyDeleteDeForest Kelly and James Doohan have passed on now, of course, but most of the others still are around. Heaven knows, Shatner turns up everywhere. LOL.

Mom is a devoted ST fan..always has been, always will be and loves that photo. She said she remembers the event..she's oder than dirt.
